SV Orchestra

On a Symphonic Voyage, your fellow passengers include the members of a 50-piece professional orchestra.

The debut sailing of Symphonic Voyages took place from January 3-15, 2011, sailing from Baltimore to the eastern Caribbean.  When word spread in the musical community about the new orchestra we were forming, requests to join the ensemble flooded in from across the country.  In the end, most of our orchestra musicians were drawn from the pool of first-rate professionals resident to the mid-Atlantic, including several full-time members of the National Symphony Orchestra, Washington National Opera, and the Delaware Symphony, as well as musicians from the Detroit, Charleston, and Indianapolis Symphony Orchestras.  Rounding out our list of performers, a select group of advanced students from Baltimore’s esteemed Peabody Conservatory were accepted as orchestra interns.  These young musicians enchanted our passengers with their musicality and enthusiasm.

We’re thrilled that Symphonic Voyages attracts musicians of this caliber.  Furthermore, it quickly became apparent during our maiden voyage that our orchestra members were having the time of their lives.  The post-sailing feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and we hope to include many of these fine musicians in Symphonic Voyages again.  We look forward to fielding an equally virtuosic and enthusiastic ensemble in 2012!
